[more]Dartmouth will unveil a plan next month to build on the work College officials have done to prevent and address sexual assault, President Philip J. Hanlon ’77 wrote in an email to the College community today. President Hanlon said the new program will be a comprehensive plan that will build on progress made through the Moving Dartmouth Forward initiative begun in 2015 and the Inclusive Excellence effort, which started in 2016. Hanlon ’77 told members of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences that Dartmouth will work to adopt a unified policy on sexual misconduct applicable to all members of the community—faculty, staff, and students. The president’s announcement came at the fall meeting of the arts and sciences faculty, which took place Monday in Alumni Hall. “This is important work. Progress requires that as a community we are all fully engaged to move Dartmouth forward,” President Hanlon said.
[more]Dartmouth is in the top 6 percent of institutions nationwide in terms of adopting best practices in sexual assault prevention, according to an assessment by education technology company EVERFI, which has worked with the College on some of the online components of Dartmouth’s prevention efforts. [more]Geisel School of Medicine Dean for Faculty Affairs Leslie Henderson, a professor of physiology and neurobiology, has been appointed to chair the Presidential Steering Committee on Sexual Misconduct. Creation of the committee was announced last month.
